The Goldbergs got its dirty dance on with the latest episode that revolved around the classic ’80s movie Dirty Dancing, a movie that I hate with all my heart. As a kid, I have fond memories of my cousin watching this movie repeatedly when all I really wanted to do was watch cartoons. This movie is a total chick flick and ain’t no kid got time fo’ that!
Erica, with the help of her smother, decides to plan her very own Dirty Dancing-themed dance but I have to side with Barry on this one. He was totally the voice for boys everywhere when it comes to this awful movie (sorry ladies). Regardless, I love how this show ensures that no matter which side of the dance floor you’re on, you’ll be able to relate to the story in some way.
Now let’s have the time of our lives and count down the best moments from The Goldbergs special Dirty Dancing themed story. Enjoy, fellow dirty dancers!
5. Quantum Leap
Another episode of The Goldberg only means one thing and that’s another epic Adam Goldberg t-shirt. This time I know absolutely nothing about this particular reference but after a little research, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s definitely worth checking out the old school trailer:
Plus, Adam did a quantum leap of his own into the pool when him and Murray were practicing their dance moves. I think they need more practice.
4. This Wedding Picture
Well, I officially need to see an entire episode dedicated to Bev and Murray’s wedding after seeing this wonderful photo of Bev eating cake on her wedding day. And she looks pissed:
3. Stalker Mom
After Principal Ball rejects the idea of a Dirty Dancing theme, Bev shows up in the funniest way possible. I love how Bev strikes fear in each and every school employee and obviously the Dirty Dance is totally back on!
2. Bringin’ It Dirty Y’all
Beverly was right, this wasn’t in the movie. But it was in The Goldbergs and it made for a perfect gif:
1. Bev Goes Ballistic
It didn’t take long at all for Bev to lose her cool after Principal Ball decides that a Dirty Dancing theme is both dirty and wildly inappropriate. Bev questions this immediately and his quite possibly the best mom ever.
Not only that, but she also delivered another trademark swear session by letting everyone know exactly what she thinks of Principal Ball. This will never get old 🙂
While I have only negative feelings towards the actual Dirty Dancing movie, I have nothing but positive things to say about The Goldbergs version. I’m all danced out after this one with pretty much everyone getting their dance on, including Murray who should definitely burn that tape. Once again, The Goldbergs creates something brand new out of something old and if they can make me feel this good about a movie I hate then we are in for a treat for the remainder of the season. I’ll leave you with one last song from Dirty Dancing itself since it was featured in this episode and I sincerely hope you had the time of your life. Thanks for reading, fellow ’80s rockers!
